H1N1 Swine flu latest information ( posted on Nov 19, 2009 )
Latest update in blue - 4/01/2010
Children aged 6 months to 5
years will be invited to clinics for vaccination, commencing on 12 January. We will be sending letters out to parents in January.
All other pateints who had previously been invited but were unable to attend the previous swine flu clinics should now call us to make an appointment.
Evidence
now shows that children aged over 6 months should have just one dose of
Pandemrix (i.e. only one swine flu vaccination) contrary to previous
government policy), unless the child is immunosuppressed or has an
immune deficiency. If you previously received a letter inviting your child for a second dose then this is no longer necessary, unless the child is immunosuppressed or has a immune deficiency.
Apology: Some patients who have already had the swine flu vaccination have been sent a second invitation letter. Please ignore this.
All patients in the target groups below should have received a letter, if not, please contact us.
1. Immunosupressed pts - any age
Active or recently completed cancer treatment or medication for conditions such
as inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, immunodeficiency, kidney
donor recipients or on long term steroids
2. Pregnant women
3. Patients under 65 with a chronic disease such as:
Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, copd, asthma, kidney disease, liver
disease chronic neurological disease
4. Children (18 and under) with chronic neurological disorders such as:
cerebral palsy
5. Splenectomy patients
6. HIV
Once patients in the above groups have been invited, the next group to target
will be the household contacts of Immunosupressed patients
The final group will be pts over 65 in group 3 above.
If you are
unsure as to whether you fall into any of these categories, click here to ask for
clarification.
SECOND
DOSES
Only children under 10 and Immunosupressed patients will be invited for a
second dose, this will be at least 3 weeks after the first dose. The
second dose is needed to ensure adequate protection. If you are a cancer
patient but not actively undergoing treatment you will only require one dose.

October 2009 - Practice web site ( posted on Nov 3, 2009 )
Many
apologies to our patients as we have been without a web site for
several days. Unfortunately our web site provider was a victim of the
credit crunch and went out of business.
We
had to set up a new web site very quickly and we will be working on it
to improve it and add additional features as soon as we can. Thank you
for your understanding in the meantime.
Please use the feedback form
to let us know of any new features you would like to see on here. A
popular request has been for online appointment booking but sadly this
is not technically possible at present. You can however book your own
appointment via the telephone even when the surgery is closed.
